Layout description
View from terrace Villa Pottino is located in Scopello, one of the nicest seacoast spot in western Sicily, just few steps away from the XIII century Tonnara - the ancient Sicilian tuna fishing complex located in a natural bay.The Villa is reachable through a not pavemented private road. Its unique location right on a rocky promontory facing the seaside gives you an amazing view. As soon as you pass the entrance gate you'll find a natural path and then some stairs down to the great feature of this villa: a private rocky bay, where you can swim!!! The rocks are not that flat but it is possible to arrange some sun ombrella. The villa was built in two level, in fact after the entrance door, two steps down introduce you to the spacious living room. Here several woodden-windows along with a wood framed door-window will lead you to the terrace that surrounds the villa and where you can be enchanted by the amazing view of Scopello bay with its "faraglioni". From the living room you have access, through the stairs-up, to the dining area in the higher level. The dining area feature a big table that can host comfortably 12 people and it is also connected to the Kitchen through a door and to another terrace through a door-window in the same style of the living room. In this terrace there is a big marble table for outdoor meals. The kitchen is fully furnished, has two cooking machine, two refrigerator, one ice maker and access to the terrace. While the dining area, the kitchen and the laundry room are located in the right wing of the villa, the four bedrooms are located in the left wing of the villa along with three full bathroom. One of them is en suite. The bedrooms are lined up along the aisle. The first one has a double bed and a window with view. The second one is smaller but feature a double bed, a wall closet and has access to the terrace. The third one has 4 single beds (two of them are build into the wall as kind of shelf!) and it has a door-window that open on the terrace. The 4th one is the biggest with a private bathroom a door-window and a window. In the aisle that lead you to the bedrooms it worths a mention a very nice natural light atrium with a display of archaeological ruins of the family private collection. The last double bedroom, detached from the main body,is directly accessable form the terrace. It is the only one that has not the view on the Scopello bay, but it has a small window with the garden view. Touring ideas

The Villa is located near the village of Scopello, about 50 kilometers west from Palermo. Scopello is a lovely mediaeval village that really worth a visit. Also it is the only place where you can taste "Pani cunzatu". To have this experience you must must go to the only bakery of the village: here you can have it just out from the oven, then very slowly a lady will cut it and fill it with fresh tomato, anchovy, fresh local cheese, salt, pepper, oregan and olive oil...unforgettable! If you still have energy, you can go to "Lo Zingaro" nature reserve. It is a nice trekking path that for the exercised ones, can take to Capo S.Vito with a four hour walk. Capo San Vito is famous for two things: the most beautiful stretch of white beach of Sicily and the Cous-cous. Every year in September there is a world contest for the best coucous. Our choice is the restaurant "Il Pocho". Other interesting excursions are: Segesta with the best kept Greek temple and Erice, the mediaeval town on the hill . The closest town is Castellamare del golfo at about six kilometers where you can find everything you may need.
